The Gujarat government has decided to extend four allowances as per the 7th Pay Commission to employees of 65 odd public sector units (PSUs), boards and corporations under it, according to an official statement.
After the government revived representations in this regard, the government will be providing House Rent Allowance (HRA), Compensatory Local Allowance (CLA), Travelling Allowance (TA) and Medical Allowance (MA) to employees of various PSUs, boards and corporations.
CLA usually comprises city allowance, determined by the board or corporation, and washing allowance, usually paid to employees where uniforms are provided by the board or corporation. These four allowances, including CLA, are currently part of salaries of state government employees and those under the panchayats as per the 7th Pay Commission.
All the four allowances would be applicable from October 1, 2023 onwards.
