Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday slammed the Bihar government in connection with the communal clashes that erupted in the Begusarai district on Wednesday during a procession taken out for the immersion of Goddess Durga’s idols. Speaking about the incident, Singh said that the Nitish Kumar government is promoting the “Ghazwa-e-Hind” ideology in the state.
“The Mahagathbandhan government (Bihar government) is neck deep in politics of appeasement,” Singh said, further asserting that it prompted him to make the statement. Hitting out at the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress, Giriraj Singh said that they are part of the “Tukde-Tukde” gang.
Notably, the Begusarai Police have arrested as least 10 people in connection with the clashes that broke out in the Ballia Bazar area of the city. It was followed by a spell of stone-pelting from both sides and vandalisation of a number of shops on the roadside.
