Pakistan and Russia agreed to further strengthen collaborative efforts to effectively combat terrorism in the region, said an official statement released on Friday.

The two countries reached an agreement during the 10th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group on Combating International Terrorism and Other Security Challenges, which was held in the capital Islamabad.

The meeting was attended by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin and Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary Syed Haider Shah, along with senior security officials.

The two sides discussed global and regional terrorist threats, with a particular focus on the situations in Afghanistan, Central and South Asia, and North Africa, said the Pakistani Foreign Ministry statement.

Islamabad and Moscow also discussed sharing their experiences and best practices, emphasizing the importance of national efforts in the broader fight against terrorism.

“The two sides also discussed the various forms of radicalization, the spread of terrorist ideologies, and the misuse of information and communication technologies for terrorist purposes. They agreed on the need for comprehensive strategies to counter these challenges,” the statement said.
