RRTS Launch Latest News Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor at Sahibabad RapidX Station, Uttar Pradesh, this Thursday at approximately 11:15 AM, as announced by officials.
During this event, the Prime Minister launched the RapidX train service, which will connect Sahibabad to the Duhai Depot, signifying the commencement of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India.
Around noon, Prime Minister Modi will preside over a public program in Sahibabad, where he will address the audience on the occasion of the RRTS launch in the country. Additionally, he will dedicate two stretches of the east-west corridor of Bengaluru Metro to the nation.
The 17-kilometer priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor will establish the connection between Sahibabad and the ‘Duhai Depot,’ with stations along the way at Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai. The foundation stone for this corridor was laid by the Prime Minister on March 8, 2019.
Officials have stated that the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision to enhance regional connectivity across the nation through the creation of world-class transport infrastructure.
The RRTS is a novel rail-based, semi-high-speed, high-frequency commuter transit system designed to operate at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour. This initiative aims to provide high-speed trains for intercity commuting at 15-minute intervals, with the potential to increase the frequency to every 5 minutes as needed.
In the National Capital Region (NCR), a total of eight RRTS corridors have been identified for development. Among them, three corridors, including the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor, Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar Corridor, and Delhi-Panipat Corridor, have been prioritized for Phase-I implementation. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS, with a budget exceeding Rs 30,000 crore, will connect Delhi to Meerut in under an hour, passing through urban centers like Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar.
This RRTS project in India represents a cutting-edge regional mobility solution, comparable to the best in the world. It promises to provide a safe, reliable, and modern intercity commuting experience. The RRTS network aligns with PM GatiShakti’s National Master Plan, facilitating extensive multi-modal integration with railway stations, metro stations, and bus services.
