Two brothers were killed by three persons following a dispute over the parking of a two-wheeler vehicle during a Navratri event celebration in Surat, police said.
“The incident took place at 12:30am on Monday. The dispute initially started over a parking issue when three individuals confronted them during the ongoing Garba event. Later, the situation escalated when the brothers, Rahul Piple (28), and Praveen Piple (23) were attacked and fatally stabbed by these individuals, leading to their untimely demise,” said an official.
The attackers have been identified as Rahul alias Bablu, Karan alias Ajju and Deepak alias Vishal, he said adding that Rahul is still absconding while the other two have been arrested in the double murder case.
The deceased brothers, originally from Buldana, Maharashtra, were residing in Amroli area with their family.
The elder brother Rahul, survived by his wife and young son, was working as a cobbler alongside his father, while Praveen was employed at a diamond company.
According to police, the two brothers were engaged in Garba festivities in a residential society when they were confronted by some people who asked for a parked vehicle to be removed.
The situation quickly escalated, leading to a heated altercation. Later, three individuals attacked and fatally stabbed both brothers, with the younger one losing his life while attempting to protect the elder one, the official said.
The two injured brothers were taken to a hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
