Colvale police on Friday arrested two persons in a narcotics raid at Ganesh Nagar, Colvale, and seized alleged narcotic substances worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
North Goa superintendent of police (SP) Nidhin Valsan said that the narcotics raid was conducted late Thursday night.
Based on intelligence and reliable information, the two accused — 21-year-old Amit Kumar Sonkar, resident of Ganesh Nagar, Colvale, and 27-year-old Dinesh Ballan Soni, resident of Khadpawada, Cuchelim — were apprehended.
During the raid, Colvale police found in their possession 1.5kg of ganja worth Rs 1.5 lakh. Police also seized a two-wheeler and two mobile phones from their possession.
Police have registered a first information report (FIR) under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) r/w 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Both accused persons were arrested and are currently in police custody.
